Inspired by stunning scenery, exceptional swimming conditions and world-class hospitality, Ocean Swim Fiji first launched in 2018 and followed with even larger sell-out events in 2019, then after Covid with the help of Empower Your Social, Ocean Swim got back on track with May 2023 and August 2023 also selling out! Ocean Swim Fiji is heading into its fifth swimcation in May 2024. Their goals when working with Empower Your Social were to create a funnel using the current email database and social media to build a waitlist for the event and build excitement and engagement on social media.

Summary

Empower Your Social partnered with Ocean Swim Fiji to manage their digital marketing strategy, resulting in a highly successful sold-out event. Over three months, we crafted a detailed content plan that blended professional and user-generated content, launched targeted Facebook Ads, and built a warm email database. By creating a sense of FOMO, the event sold out within two hours of registration opening. During the event, daily Reels and attendee content highlighted the experience. This project demonstrates our expertise in audience engagement, strategic planning, and driving real results through digital channels.

Challenge

Ocean Swim Fiji faced challenges such as low engagement on social media, a minimal following, low-quality content, and a lack of time to post and engage with the community. After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, they needed to rebuild excitement and engagement around their event.

Solutions

Our tailored digital marketing strategy for Ocean Swim Fiji included expertly managing social media posts, email campaigns, community engagement, dynamic content creation, YouTube video production, website updates, and private Facebook group management. This comprehensive approach resulted in a highly successful event series, prompting the organizers to plan a second event, which sold out within two days. The email database grew significantly, with the general list expanding from 2,800 to 5,000 subscribers and 700 participants joining the waitlist for the May 2023 event within a month. On social media, Instagram followers increased from 200 to 859, despite the target audience not being heavy users of the platform. We successfully built excitement and demand, gathering numerous positive reviews on the website. Ocean Swim Fiji is now well-positioned for future success, with a robust waitlist and a clear process in place. As Director Scott Rice remarked, "Emma and Kimberley assisted us with our social media strategy and execution, but I quickly realised they had the skills and experience to do far more for us." This collaboration underscores the value of a comprehensive, results-driven digital marketing approach.
